CURRICULUM

At Full Circle we use a multifaceted curriculum approach. We strive to address the whole child, expanding on important social-emotional skills, self-independence, and school readiness. Full Circle primarily uses the Creative Curriculum along with Teaching Strategies Gold to help excite children in their learning and to create a solid foundation for them to explore the world around them.

THE CHILDREN AT FULL CIRCLE ARE CATEGORIZED INTO FIVE GROUPS BASED ON AGE

Full Circle believes that all children should have choices and be exposed to a variety of activities, adults and children. Therefore, all rooms in a particular age group are open to any adjacent classrooms. This allows for children to explore their environment without fully leaving the comfort of their area.

INFANTS

We believe that infants should remain in their assigned classrooms for as long as possible in order to create a bond with their teacher(s) and begin to build trust with all adults

  • The infant environment is staffed at a 4:1 ratio with up to 8 children enrolled in each classroom
  • Full Circle’s infant environment is one of the most important areas. This is where our programming begins and where we start our children off trusting adults and building social emotional skills.
  • The environment is not focused on “activities” but rather genuine interactions with teachers and children. You will find teachers engaged with your child on the floor reading, building and interacting in a loving, caring environment.
  • For the safety of all children Full Circle requests that no children under the age of 2 enter an infant environment. In addition, any person entering the infant environment must remove their shoes before entering the classroom.

TODDLERS

Toddlers are very curious about the world around them. They are beginning to explore on their own, interact with friends and learning social cues.

  • Our biggest goal with toddlers is to teach them language skills so that they may express themselves appropriately around their friends and teachers.
  • Teachers will let children create and explore through arts, science, sensory and group time activities. Children are allowed to explore additional classrooms to build confidence, social emotional growth and get to know more friends.

TWO’S AREA

2-year-old children are in transition. They are not quite capable of the skills of a 3-year-old but are capable of much more than a Toddler.

  • Classes split so that teachers may spend more 1-1 time with each child. ½ of the class will go outside while the other half is allowed to explore inside the classrooms in a less stressful, more open environment.
  • Teachers will begin teaching and eliciting skills through Skill of the Day projects. These projects are teacher directed, child executed activities meant to coincide with Teaching Strategies observations needed for the classroom. In short the projects should build skills for each individual child. Skill of the Day projects include cooking, art, science, exercise and more.
  • Each of our 3 classrooms is designed with coordinating interest areas or centers to give children variety in learning and to let them explore concepts they are interested in learning about. Areas include: science, sensory, toys and games, blocks, art, library, dramatic play and music.
